Three day weekend! Let's rage and stay up all night, or let's pull a Sydney and watch YouTube videos for three hours and go to bed early.
3 Things I've discovered during my wild weekend:
1) YouTube is the best. I started watching one video and next thing I know its three hours later and I haven't moved from the same spot once. I have found a few different hilarious channels that when you feel like not being productive (me everyday) you should check out. The first is Todrick Hall (todrickhall). He is fierce and comes up with some amazing stuff. He basically does ghetto versions of the Disney Princesses. His "Once Upon a Crime" episodes basically killed me. Another good channel is the Epic Rap Battles (ERB). They take characters from history and have them rap battle in extremely inappropriate ways. For example, Mary Poppins versus Mrs. Clause and Napoleon Bonaparte versus Napoleon Dynamite. You could spend an entire day trying to watch all of these because there are so many, and you wouldn't ever get tired of it. Chalk that claim up as personal experience. What can I say, my Saturday night got pretty wild.
2) I'm the grandma of my friend's group and I can't do anything about it. I texted a friend to ask if we were all trying to get together or not Sunday night and his reply was that he wanted to but he had a wedding reception to go to first. He would try to not make it too late because grandma (me) can't stay up very late. And the sad thing, he is right. I was sleeping by 10pm that night. Another thing that helps to show how grandma-ish I am, I was shopping with my Mom at Kohl's and passed the section for older women. I saw all the dresses and thought to myself, "I can't wait until it's socially acceptable for me to wear those." I need help.
3) I love my job despite the stress it brings to me. This past week in the infant room at the daycare was a nightmare. We didn't split our room up into 0-6 months in one room and 6-12 months in a new room yet so we had all the kids still together. That meant our numbers were roughly 18 babies to 5 adults every day for the week. By Friday I was so mentally exhausted that I threatened to push a baby over if he crawled any closer to me with his snotty nose. I mean after I've been pooped on by said kid, spit on with his weird food his parents provide, I just couldn't handle getting snot wiped all over me. I almost cried that day. But here I am, only three days later and I'm still excited about going back to work tomorrow. It's not even going to be a fun week. Only a 4 day work week and I'm getting in 39 hours. It'll be intense but the babies are cute, my coworkers are amazing, and the work environment is just what I want. I couldn't imagine working my summer anywhere else. Added bonus: it allows me to live in my apartment at school for the whole summer and not have to move back in with my parents!
To sum up my weekend, I really wouldn't change a thing that I did. I had a great time fishing with Vanessa, setting up a tent to go camping with the help of B, and doing yard work with my parents. In my endless downtime I hung out with Finnigan (my dog). This is my life and dammit I love it.
